I bring a sense of balance to each web site that I design. The web is a visual medium – so I try making the sites I design look good and at the same time be user-friendly. I don’t design for designers, but design for my client’s audience. I focus on who is going to be using the web site and to make sure they’re comfortable with it.
favorite part of your job?
I love it when a site design ends up looking better than I imagined it could. Sometimes it comes together easily— others times it’s really a struggle – but nothing makes me happier then when the site goes live and it exceeds the client’s expectations.
when not designing web sites...
I like being in the woods, in the water, making art, having anything to do with plants and hanging out with my daughter, Violet.
back in the day…
I think I was visually oriented from a young age. I have a photo I used to call "me and all my pretty things." In it I'm next to my younger brother (don't know why he ended up in the picture). I'm grinning--my 2 front teeth out, must have been 6 or so—standing in front of an assortment of objects carefully laid out on our dining room table: a teal-blue plastic dollhouse chair, a rainbow painting, some stuffed animals .... Something in each of these items brought me unspeakable joy. Now the images are different--the way the sun hits my neighbor's house at sunset, a vine-covered spruce, mist rising from the trees—but the feeling is still the same.
